Twisted Metal Live-Action TV Show Casts Anthony Mackie In Lead Role


Cult classic PlayStation franchise Twisted Metal is returning as a live-action TV show - and possibly as a new Twisted Metal game - and PlayStation Productions found their lead in one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's standout actors.

PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures Television signed on Captain America himself, Anthony Mackie, as the enigmatic John Doe in the live-action Twisted Metal TV series, Deadline announced. Mackie will also executive produce the TV adaptation.

In Twisted Metal: Black and Twisted Metal: Lost, John Doe is a mysterious character who knows only that he's covered in tattoos. He's not even sure of his real name or what kind of crimes may haunt his past.

Asad Qizilbash, the head of PlayStation Productions exclaimed their excitement in welcoming the 8 Mile star to the project:

Sony and PlayStation will begin shipping the show to potential buyers and networks soon, Deadline said.

Twisted Metal marks just one of PlayStation's many upcoming adaptations, including a Ghost of Tsushima film, and the Tom Holland-led Uncharted movie, which is due to release in 2022.
