Before you go ahead and reserve a copy of Bethesda’s open-world space adventure, you’ll do well to decide on the Starfield pre-order bonuses you might want with your purchase. Depending on how you go about it, you might not need to pre-order the game at all to get the rewards you want.
Spread across multiple different versions of the game, the rewards you’ll get for hopping into Starfield early will depend on how much you’re willing to spend. For physical items, stock will obviously play a major part as well. For those, you’ll want to act fast.
Starfield pre-order bonuses - Standard, Game Pass, and Collector’s Edition
Here’s a quick rundown of what each version of Starfield will get you both in-game and out:
Starfield Standard edition (physical or boxed)
So long as you grab it before launch, pre-ordering the standard edition of Starfield will get you the Old Mars skin pack. That’s a themed skin you can apply to your Laser Cutter, Deep Mining Helmet, and Deep Mining Pack.
With boxed copies, only the Xbox version comes with a disc. The PC version is just a redeemable code in the box.
For all intents and purposes, the Starfield Gamepass edition is treated as the Standard edition, with one key difference - pre-order item timing.
With the Gamepass edition, you’ll gain access to the Old Mars skin pack regardless of when you first boot up the game, be it a month after launch, or a year if you want to wait for any game-breaking bugs to get ironed out.
Premium Edition (digital)
On top of the Old Mars skin pack, pre-ordering the Starfield Premium Edition will get you the following:
- Digital art book
- Digital soundtrack
- Constellation skin pack
- Five days Early Access
- Shattered Space Story expansion pack
Premium Edition (physical)
If grabbed from a participating retailer, the physical version of the Starfield Premium Edition gets you the same contents as the digital edition, but a Steelbook case and Constellation Patch as well.
Essentially a physical collector’s edition, this version of Starfield comes with everything the physical premium edition does, with a couple of neat additions in the form of:
- Credit Stick with Laser-Etched game code
- Starfield Chronomark watch and case
