Despite having released many popular titles, Starfield is often listed as Bethesda Game Studios' biggest game so far. As such, it's no wonder that the Starfield length is a hot topic of pre-release discussion.
In this guide, we'll break down what we know so far about how long Starfield may be. Not everyone enjoys playing extensive games like Red Dead Redemption 2, where at a point it'll seem like there's no end to the game. In the case of Starfield, however, players will be embarking on a space journey into the unknown where they'll encounter many wondrous things.

How long will Starfield be?
Fortunately, we got a bunch of juicy details on Starfield, considering it was one of the most anticipated titles during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase in 2022. However, we never did get to know how long it'll take to beat Starfield.
In a recent interview with IGN, Bethesda's Executive Producer Todd Howard disclosed more details that may have just provided us with the answer we've been seeking. According to Howard, it'll take around 30-40 hours to complete the game's main story.
However, considering the fact that there'll be up to 1,000 planets to explore in the game, in addition to the four Starfield cities that Howard confirmed will be in the game, it'll probably take players more than 120 hours to complete Starfield in full length. This will involve completing all side missions and any other optional quests or in-game content that adds to the overall progress.
If you've played other RPG titles from Bethesda like Skyrim or Fallout 4, then you'll have a good idea of just how long Starfield could be. The main story taking 30-40 hours to complete is just 20% longer than Bethesda's previous titles. While many players don't enjoy playing right through the story to end it fast, Howard's estimation does give us a pretty good idea of Starfield's length.

In addition to the game's length, Howard also spoke on the evergreen style of Bethesda's games which sees many players return to the game years after it was originally released. So we can expect the game's length to surpass over 100 hours, as it'll allow players enough time to explore most of the planets while still playing the game's main story.
Howard went on to add that Starfield will be a “dream for our modding community”, which is to say that the game will include a host of player-created content as well. Another aspect that'll keep players glued to the game is that there will be different factions. Players will explore how they each affect the story no doubt resulting in many different endings.
Ultimately, whilst Howard's estimates of the game's main story length have given us an idea of how long Starfield will be, we won't be able to provide you with a first-hand and in-depth length estimate until we've been able to get our hands on the game itself.
