Many players are wondering about the Spider-Man 2 villains. Now that Peter Parker and Miles Morales have finally landed on PS5 consoles around the globe, heads are now turning to the adversaries players will battle. We started out with trailers and even gameplay showcases containing some hints, but now with the game in everyone's hands, we know what to expect.

The major villains in Spider-Man 2

With the wait finally over, we know just who will be standing in the way of Miles and Peter saving the city of New York from complete annihilation. Here are the personalities in Spider-Man 2 that'll produce the most challenging boss battles. Bear in mind for those who have not yet played or completed the game, this contains a host of spoilers. Below are the major villains;

Venom

Once again, the black symbiote takes over another host and becomes a major thorn in the side of Spider-Man. After much speculation, fans were finally able to confirm that the identity of Venom in Spider-Man 2 isn't Eddie Brock, but in fact Peter's best friend, Harry Osborn.

Venom has the most significant part to play in the game's story, as is the case in the film adaptations as well, as the symbiote is not afraid to find other hosts to attach to - including Peter. It's a well-known fact that Peter becomes trapped in the black suit once more, but it does have its perks.

Kraven the Hunter

Kraven, also known as Kraven the Hunter, makes his highly-anticipated debut on the video game scene as the newest and toughest threat the Spideys have seen in some time. Following the beloved comic arc, Kraven's Last Hunt, Kraven comes to New York in search of his fiercest opponent, wishing to prove himself by defeating Spider-Man. He's one of the main villains in Spider-Man 2, but not as over-arching as Venom.

Lizard

Since The Amazing Spider-Man #6, Dr. Curt Connors, or The Lizard, became one of the favourite villains for many Spider-Man fans. Of course, he will make an appearance in the new Spider-Man game. It was confirmed during Spider-Man 2 gameplay reveal, as we saw him doing battle with Miles Morales in a water-based boss fight. He'll be a handful for new and experienced gamers alike, so make sure to farm some XP and spend those skill points.

Mr Negative

We haven't seen Martin Li, also known as Mister Negative, since the first instalment of the Spider-Man series, and the years do not appear to have been kind to him. A once upstanding member of the community known for his kindness and generosity, his loss in a battle with Miles would signal the beginning of his spiralling downfall.

Expectations are not high that Li has changed his stripes and is looking to turn over a new leaf. Given the rugged exterior we've seen of him, he looks more primed for vengeance than anything else. Perhaps a few solid swing kicks to the head can inject some positivity into Mr Negative.

Scream

One of the better-hidden and more surprising additions to the bad-guy list is Scream. Even those who are well-versed in the origins of this Marvel villain will be taken aback by its identity. Insomniac added a shocking and tragic twist to the story by having another of Peter's loved ones seized by the symbiote. From there rose Scream, encasing the body of Pete's love, Mary Jane.

None of Scream's adaptations in the comics include MJ as the host, which is what makes this such a stunning turn of events in the game. Peter will have to balance defeating his new foe with trying to save his girlfriend. A tough balance, but if she's to survive, he'll have to make it work.

Sandman

He's been a staple of the Spider-Man franchises for a long time, both in film, games, and, of course, the Lego adaptations. Flint Marko is often portrayed as a misunderstood man who made some mistakes to end up in prison, but the real punishment has been his separation from his daughter.

He's the first major villain you will encounter in Spider-Man 2, so he'll be a way to introduce yourself to the game's mechanics. Just because you're learning, doesn't mean he'll go easy on you, so learn quick!

What other villains will be in Spider-Man 2?

The major villains in Spider-Man shape the story and the eventual outcome of Miles and Peter's combined adventure. But, they're not the only ones disturbing the waters of New York. There are a number of side missions in the game headed by a number of lesser bad guys that you'll need to clear up to free the city of crime and open districts to fast-travelling.
