Spider-Man 2 multiplayer leaks

As we've previously reported, the rumoured multiplayer mode for Spider-Man 2 which was revealed via the Insomniac Games cyberattack, has been cancelled. Details are unclear as to how far developed the multiplayer Spider-Man title was when it was axed, although the decision to drop the idea was clearly made some time ago.

This news will undoubtedly come as a disappointment to players, following Spider-Man 2's success amongst players and critics alike. However, work on multiplayer features would inevitably require some of the game's campaign or gameplay to be sacrificed as a result, so Insomniac's decision is probably for the best.

Previously, we'd speculated on what a Spider-Man 2 multiplayer game mode would look like, should it have ever come to fruition. A game mode similar to Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs series, which would offer a head-to-head game mode, could have worked really well in the setting of Spider-Man 2. Time will tell as to whether Insomniac revisits the concept as they continue work on Spider-Man 3.
