The next Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 7-star tera raid event is upon us, and this time we're getting another major fan favorite Pokemon to add to our team. This event is featuring a Poison tera type Greninja. If this is a Pokemon you're interested in, then our Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Greninja Tera Raid guide will give you all the best strategies to take on this raid.

These 7-star raids have been incredibly rewarding and difficult. Having the right Pokemon for the job of taking on the raid is going to be key to success. There's some preparation to do beforehand, but we'll detail everything here.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Greninja Tera Raid counters

To start off, we need to talk about the Pokemon we're going to be fighting. Greninja is a going to be Poison tera type. For the purposes of our moves, we're going to want to bring moves that are super effective against Poison, that being Ground and Psychic types.

Greninja's base types are Water and Dark so we can expect that it'll be packing some water and dark moves. They may also have a poison type move, such as Gunk Shot. That being said, we should look to bring a Pokemon that has Psychic moves, and can possibly resist some of the moves that Greninja will have.

Next, no matter what Pokemon we're going to bring, we're going to want it to be level 100, IV trained via bottlecaps, and most likely max Special Attack EVs, and a split of physical and special defense EVs.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Greninja Tera Raid best Pokemon

We have a few different options for Pokemon to bring. First of all, we're getting two additional raid event Pokemon that are great options for this, Lucario and Bronzong. Each of those two will haev a four and five star raid with random tera types, and a curated tera type five star raid for each as well.

For Lucario, you'll want to go for the curated raid. It has a steel tera type, which is great against any Poison type moves, but it also has the hidden ability Justified. Given that Greninja is part dark and have a dark move, this will boost the attack of our Lucario by one stage for free effectively. You'll want to check the EVs and IVs for this one, and teach it an appropriate Psychic move.

For Bronzong, we'd also suggest the curated tera type as well, which is Psychic. It has a natural steel type, which at at worst will be useful against one of Greninja's moves. It's also pretty bulky naturally, so it should be a safe option to take in solo.

The final choice that we'd recommend would be something like Gardevoir. We've recommended this Pokemon for both the Cinderace and Charizard events, so you can check that set out there. We'd recommend though instead of using a Fairy move, use Psychic.

And that's all you need to know about the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Greninja Tera Raid! Be sure to get at it this weekend, and when it comes back around in a couple weeks.
