How long will Lords of the Fallen take to beat?

In a recent interview with MP1st, studio boss Saul Gascon and Creative Director Cezar Virtosu revealed just how long it'll likely take you to complete the main story contained within the semi-open world of Mournstead. According to Gascon and Virtosu, Lords of the Fallen will take approximately 30 hours to complete. That's not to say that there won't be plenty of additional places to explore and things to do, not to mention the inclusion of New Game Plus. They went on to say that it took them around 25 hours, but that was with prior knowledge of enemy spawn points and other important environmental factors. With that said, don't be surprised if it takes you longer than this estimate.

Our experience with the game, however, was vastly different to the crew behind the title. For us, the idea of completing Lords of the Fallen in 25 hours seemed impossible, however, we didn't have the opportunity to play co-op which certainly could've helped. While we are not as experienced with the genre, we'd reckon our completion time to exceed 40+ hours. For those who are not accustomed to a difficulty system like the one in Lords of the Fallen, this may prove a far more difficult game than first imagined.

Soulslike games are identifiable by their complex combat mechanics, unforgivingly difficult enemies and bosses, and in-depth weapon and armour customisation. Lords of the Fallen is no different, as we revealed in our review of the title.

With the likes of Remnant 2 and Lies of P taking Soulslike fans to their limits in 2023, expect that Lords of the Fallen will follow suit. We didn't expect to finish the story in 30 hours and, unless you're a true connoisseur of the genre, neither should you. It will take the right build, strategy, and understanding of fundamentals such as how to heal your character, to suit your playstyle to overcome and those take time.

We've got plenty of material to get you as pumped for Lords of the Fallen as we are! Take a look at whether the game is likely to feature on Xbox Game Pass and wrap your head around the game's health withering and Umbral dread indicators!
