Although previous nations required a certain order of progression before you could access them, the devs have decided that this may be too daunting a task for new players. Or, equally, for those who haven't made enough progress. Therefore, they've made it a lot easier to unlock Fontaine in Genshin Impact. Here are the requirements:
- Complete the Mondstadt Archon Quest Prologue: Act III “Song of the Dragon and Freedom”
A Teleport Waypoint northeast of Sumeru's Realm of Farakhkert will automatically be unlocked on your map. This waypoint will lead you to the border between Sumeru and Fontaine.
This is the quickest method to make your way to Fontaine. A secondary method involves completing the Sumeru Archon Quest Chapter III: Act VI titled "Caribert". This is the intended order for the story to be experienced and is recommended by the devs to fully immerse yourself in the world and its lore.
How to get to Fontaine in Genshin Impact
Once you've unlocked the teleport point near the border of Fontaine and Sumeru, you can make your way to the shore. Over here, you can summon a Waverider and head in the direction of the nation of Fontaine. However, you might notice that Fontaine is located on a high continental shelf.
Worry not, however, as there is a convenient lift at the bottom of the waterfall in the Romaritime Harbor that will lead you up.
From here, you just need to board an Aquabus, and it will lead you through the Poisson Tunnel to the main city and Court of Fontaine.
