How to change villager roles in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Once you reach rank two in friendship with a villager, you can assign them one of five roles. These are Digging, Fishing, Foraging, Gardening, and Mining. Each of these roles offers additional benefits when hanging out with a villager and completing various activities within the village.

To assign villager roles in Dreamlight Valley, you need to craft a Training Manual at a crafting station. Here are the recipes you’ll need to craft each type of training manual:

  • Digging Manual - 5,000 Dreamlight, 20 Pebbles, 20 Sand, and 30 Soil
  • Fishing Manual - 5,000 Dreamlight, 2 Swordfish, 5 Bream, and 10 Herring
  • Foraging Manual - 5,000 Dreamlight, 30 Banana, 20 Blueberry, and 10 Basil
  • Gardening Manual - 5,000 Dreamlight, 40 Corn, 60 Tomato, and 20 Carrot
  • Mining Manual - 5,000 Dreamlight, 2 Topaz, 2 Aquamarine, and 2 Peridot

Once you've crafted the relevant manual, you will need to give it to the villager whose role you want to change. It is important to note that the villager must have friendship level 10 before they can accept the role change. If you have fulfilled these requirements, then the villager will be assigned the new role immediately.

You can craft training manuals at any crafting station in Dreamlight Valley. They require a variety of materials gathered using their respective activities. Recipes for the manuals can be found in the Potion & Enchantment tab, and are consumed when used on the villager. Crafting each manual requires a significant amount of Dreamlight, so if you want to change a villager’s role a second time, you’ll have to craft another training manual.

There you have it, that’s how you can make a training manual to change villagers roles in Disney Dreamlight Valley! If you’re looking for more guides, make sure to check out how to get Olaf in the game, as well as how to upgrade your house in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
