Genshin Impact Diona Build Guide - Everything You Need to Know

Jump To

A cute little catgirl and a prodigy at making cocktails and other alcoholic beverages, Diona is a bow user that works at The Cat’s Tail. This tavern located in Mondstadt started growing more popular since she joined as the bartender, which is extremely ironic since she hates alcoholic drinks. However, on the battlefield Diona acts as a top-tier Cryo Support character, being proficient at healing and providing shields to her teammates.

How to get Diona

Currently, Diona is obtainable in the “Energy Amplifier Initiation” event, which will run until May 17th, 2021, and we got you covered with this event guide. She’s also obtainable by spending wishes in the Standard Banner “Wanderlust Invocation”. Good luck obtaining her, and now let’s talk about how she develops in combat!

Diona is versatile enough to be able to fill the role of Supporter or Healer, depending on what you need. Her shielding abilities are extremely useful in battle and while almost any party setup will benefit from them, she’s able to find really good synergy with companions like Razor or Keqing, providing the opportunity of acting as backup and the ability to trigger Superconduct Elemental Reactions. In terms of equipment, however, we have several possible approaches depending on our budget and arsenal.

Weapons like the Sacrificial Bow will always be welcomed, since cutting the cooldown of Elemental Skills is always useful, but perhaps the Favonius Warbow helps Diona to shine even brighter, adding a significant boost on Energy Recharge and Elemental Orb generation. Artifact sets like Noblesse Oblige work perfectly within a Support context, and Beloved Maiden/The Exile will boost her Energy Recharge and Healing Effectiveness values, which is always a useful thing for a Healing build.

Charged Attack
Perform a more precise Aimed Shot with increased damage. While aiming, biting frost accumulates on the arrowhead. A fully charged frost arrow will deal Cryo damage.

Elemental Skill - Icy Paws

Diona shoots an Icy Paw that deals Cryo damage to opponents and creates a shield on hit. The shield's damage Absorption scales based on Diona's Max HP, and its duration depends on the number of Icy Paws that hit their target.

Quickly shoots off 2 Icy Paws.
Hold
Dashes back before shooting five Icy Paws. The shield created by a Hold attack will gain a 75% damage Absorption Bonus and a 250% Cryo damage Absorption Bonus. It will also cause your active character to become affected by Cryo after it forms, for a short duration.

Elemental Burst - Signature Mix

Tosses out a special cold brew that deals AoE Cryo damage and creates a Drunken Mist in an AoE.
Drunken Mist
This mist continuously deals Cryo damage to opponents within the AoE, and regenerates the HP of characters within it.

Example Builds for Diona

Support Build
Weapon - Sacrificial Bow or Favonius Warbow
While being able to cut down the cooldown with the Sacrificial Bow is certainly useful, I’d prioritize the Favonius Warbow if you can afford it, since being able to generate even more Elemental Orbs is better overall.
Artifacts - Noblesse Oblige (4 piece bonus)
The Noblesse Oblige set will activate after our Elemental Bursts, providing an Attack buff to the party, which is fitting for a supporting role.

Healer Build
Weapon - Recurve Bow
In a build focused on healing like this, having a weapon that accompanies that approach is always preferred, and the Recurve Bow heals its user with every enemy defeated, so it’s more than an adequate option.
Artifacts - Maiden Beloved or The Exile (4 piece bonus)
Maiden Beloved will boost Diona’s Healing Effectiveness, but since it can be tricky to get our hands on these artifacts, a good replacement for it it’s The Exile set, which will boost Diona’s Energy Recharge and Regeneration.
