Genshin Impact is not without its flaws, especially as the game requires a constant and strong internet connection and a hefty chunk of storage space. That's where Genshin Impact error 9005 crops up.

Players primarily on PlayStation and mobile platforms have been running into a new issue known as error 9005. It pertains to storage space, or lack thereof, and unfortunately only seems to have one inconvenient fix. We'll go through what you can try down below.

There's a lot going on in the Genshin Impact world, and we recommend checking out the banner schedule for which characters are currently available, then checking your current team against our tier list. We've also put together a countdown to the next update livestream.

How To Fix Genshin Impact Error 9005

The Genshin Impact 9005 error code is essentially an 'insufficient storage' error that happens across multiple platforms when players try to load up and update the game. However, most of the time, there is plenty of storage space left.

It seems that the error is something that occurs randomly, and is not actually a reflection of how much storage space you have left; the game simply hasn't registered that there is spare space.

The first thing to do is to double-check how much free space there is on your device, just to make sure, and maybe clear a little extra for safety.

Most players faced with this issue have found that uninstalling and re-installing the entire game has fixed the error code. This may take a while given Genshin Impact's sizeable updates, but it currently seems like the only reliable fix.

If you're in need of extra help, we have more fixes for other Genshin Impact issues too, like error code 4206, which occurs when the servers are down, and error 9203, which you'll be faced with when the game download fails to initialise.
