Thanks to the deployment of regular buffs and nerfs from Raven Software, Warzone players are always on the hunt for the best guns and weapons to pick up before dropping into the action.

Following the arrival of the Season 5 Reloaded update, there are several weapons many now consider to be part of the ever-changing meta, thanks to their superior damage output and low levels of recoil.

As the game's weapon arsenal continues to expand, there are a few armaments that remain firm favourites, including one battle rifle that's managed to evade most of the balancing efforts. Now, however, Warzone's developers have taken action and applied a hefty nerf to it in a bid to level the playing field.

Warzone's Cronen Squall receives nerf

Within the September 6 patch notes, Raven Software confirmed that it has applied decreases to the close-range damage, neck damage, and the upper torso multiplier of the Cronen Squall battle rifle.

Although the changes will impact the gun's performance when getting up close and personal with an opponent, this Cronen Squall nerf may not impact the current meta whatsoever. According to Warzone expert JGOD, it's actually good news for players utilising this particular battle rifle to their advantage.

In the clip below, the content creator argues: "The way that most people use the Cronen means it's not gonna be a nerf you notice."

Judging by the comments on the post, there are plenty of players happy to have heard this. One sais: "Nice, I like the Cronen," while another added: "Typical JGOD W."

On the other hand, some players are concerned about the arrival of another adjustment. One player believes: "They still can't get the Cronen nerf right." Depending on the success of the latest nerf, there's a chance further changes could arrive in the not-too-distant future.

For now, it appears the Cronen Squall will remain one of the strongest weapons to use in mid-range and long-distance combat. With the next seasonal update on the horizon, there's always a possibility of more revisions sparking another shift in the meta.
