This summer’s been a pretty great one for fighting game fans, with Street Fighter 6 having released to an overwhelmingly positive reception back in June and Mortal Kombat 1 now having arrived in early access form.

No matter whether you’ve already jumped into MK1 or are waiting until September 19, odds are you’ve been checking out all of the trailers and impressions that’ve been dropping over the past couple of weeks, as well as planning out your battle strategies in advance.

While a sizeable portion of those who’ve played the game so far have been busy moaning that Megan Fox’s voice acting sounds a bit flat, dataminers have been hard at work digging into the game’s files. Some have potentially found hints at some unannounced future roster additions.

Which fighters are you hoping to see arrive in Mortal Kombat 1 as DLC?

The discoveries, which could possibly point towards characters coming to the game as part of future DLC or just be cut content, come in the form of some voice lines that appear to show members of the game’s current roster addressing some mysterious opponents.

As outlined in the tweet below, the dataminers think this dialogue could have hinted at Jade, Noob Saibot, Cassie Cage, Cyrax, and Kung Jin being released as playable fighters at some point down the line. Also on the list are some characters that would be crossovers, including Ghostface from the Scream films, Conan the Barbarian, and Terminator’s T-1000.

Naturally, the idea of potentially being able to batter some foes using some of the characters named above at some point has many Mortal Kombat fans pretty excited, as you can gather from tweets like the one below, which features some of the possible Ghostface-related lines that’ve been spotted.

Alongside characters that could star in follow-ups to the game’s first Kombat Pack, which has already been revealed to include the likes of Homelander and Omni-Man, dataminers have also found what seems to be a Halloween-themed seasonal fatality.

Regardless of whether you’re hoping to be able to slap someone with a candy cane while dressed as an iconic slasher in Mortal Kombat 1 at some point down the line, make sure to follow us for a bunch of helpful guides that’ll aid you in your quest to get to grips with it.
