Modern Warfare 2 contains an extensive selection of game modes offering a wide variety of experiences. Whether you’re a fan of running and gunning in Team Deathmatch or prefer a more tactical offering in the form of Search and Destroy, there’s something for everyone in multiplayer.
As the launch of Season Two moves into view, leaks surrounding the next seasonal update from Infinity Ward are beginning to appear much to the excitement of players growing tired of updates constantly breaking the game.
The latest leak teases the return of a hugely popular fan-favourite mode that made its debut in 2019’s Modern Warfare.
Popular mode returning to Modern Warfare 2
On January 10, notable Call of Duty leaker BKTOOR uncovered three unreleased game mode icons. The third and final icon catching the attention of the community all but confirms the imminent return of Gunfight.
First appearing in the prequel to 2022’s Modern Warfare 2, Gunfight pits two teams of two against each other with exactly the same loadouts, no health regeneration, and small maps. The mode became so popular Infinity Ward implemented an in-game tournament bracket where you could earn plenty of exclusive rewards.
Since then, the mode featured in Black Ops Cold War but failed to capture the immense success of its Modern Warfare predecessor. With a logo appearing within the Modern Warfare 2 game files, there’s a very high chance the mode makes its return as part of the Season Two update.
When is Modern Warfare 2 Season Two?
Season Two of Modern Warfare 2 is set to begin on February 1 but as with all leaks, it’s important to take them with a pinch of salt until Activision shares some official information. Once the intel drops, we’ll have everything you need to know about Gunfight and the other new content.
