Bungie confirms Destiny 2 is getting DDoS attacked

In a recent announcement via social media Bungie, the developers of Destiny 2, addressed a surge in network problems that players have been experiencing over the past few days, confirming it's part of a DDoS attack. This abrupt increase in error codes and disconnects left the Destiny 2 community frustrated, prompting Bungie to provide insights into the issue.

Bungie clarified that these network issues were unrelated to the planned fixes they were rolling out for a recent weapon crafting problem within the game. Instead, as mentioned, they attributed the problems to Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. DDoS attacks involve overwhelming a network or service with a flood of traffic, causing disruptions and, in this case, interrupting the Destiny 2 gaming experience.

Typically, game developers do not confirm DDoS attacks publicly, as doing so can potentially encourage malicious actors to do even more damage. However, Bungie made an exception in this instance, believing that transparency with the Destiny 2 community was vital given the recent challenges players have faced.

If you weren't aware, a recent game-breaking glitch allowed players to craft any weapon they wanted and add different traits that usually you weren't allowed to mix.

Crafted weapons were disabled by Bungie for a short period of time to address an issue, in other words, you couldn't equip them. However, players were still able to craft weapons during this time.

Bungie expressed gratitude towards their players for their patience during this trying period. They assured the Destiny 2 community that their teams were working diligently to safeguard the game's integrity and maintain their roadmap for future stability improvements.
