While a lot of Cyberpunk 2077 players are already imagining how sweet life will be when the Phantom Liberty Expansion arrives and they can ditch their old flame Keanu Reeves for a fresh celebrity companion in Idris Elba, some are still hanging out in Night City while they wait.

The average day experienced by these veteran mercenaries can involve anything from shooting their way through cybernetically-enhanced foes to complete a gig to calmly sitting down in a friend’s stylish condo to knock back some drinks.

If you find that not having to find time among all of these extracurriculars for regular human functions like eating, sleeping and drinking beverages that won’t give you a headache so bad it affects your Kiroshi optics is hurting your immersion, a new mod might be worth adding to your load order.

Feel you need to add an extra layer of immersive challenge to your futuristic mercenary adventures?

The mod in question is called ‘Survival System’ and is seemingly the first ever work of modder DiCrash.

With some help from prolific modder djkovrik, whose projects have brought things like online car shopping and conveniently keybound quickhacks to the game, they’ve decided to make sure that you’ll need to seek out grub, refreshment, and safe places to rest in between adventures.

The mod enforces this by adding saturation, hydration, and energy gauges to your character, viewable via newly added menu widgets. These will gradually decrease from their maximum value of 100 as you engage in activities that don’t sate your hunger, thirst, or fatigue.

While not eating or drinking for ten in-game days or not sleeping for six will leave these gauges completely depleted, you’ll start to experience negative effects as soon as any of them dip below 95, meaning you’ll want to keep on top of things.

Though thanks to the fact the mod makes all of the game’s food and drink more expensive, doing so might mean you have less cash to spend on weapon upgrades or Samurai tickets than you’d like.

If you can’t bear to part with your precious eddies to meet your needs, get ready to endure penalties to a variety of stats and mechanics linked to health, stamina, and even your mental faculties if you opt to avoid shut-eye.

Assuming you haven’t been put off by these potential afflictions, you’ll need to grab jac3km4’s ‘redscript’, WopsS’ ‘RED4ext’, as well as psiberx’s ‘ArchiveXL’ and ‘TweakXL’ in order to get things working as they should.
