While a lot of Cyberpunk 2077 players are already imagining how sweet life will be when the Phantom Liberty Expansion arrives and they can ditch their old mate Keanu Reeves for a fresh celebrity friend in Idris Elba, some are still chilling in Night City while they wait.
When they’re not busy living the bombastic life of a futuristic fashion model or grabbing a few drinks at The Afterlife before they head home at the end of a long day, many of these chooms can be found battling their way through dangerous foes to complete a gig for a fixer.
If you’re someone who regularly gets into several scraps with Night City’s ne'er-do-wells before you’ve even read the morning news headlines, a new mod might be worth adding to your load order.
Feel like your Cyberpunk 2077 character’s hacking proficiency needs a boost?
The mod in question is called ‘Quickhack Hotkeys’ and is the work of prolific modder djkovrik. Some of their previous work has given you the chance to experience cyberpsychosis and the equally traumatic phenomenon of buying a car online.
This time, they’ve decided to make things a bit easier for those who’ve opted to play as a netrunner and thus have a massive array of different quickhacks at their disposal.
With the mod installed, you can seemingly kiss goodbye to the days of desperately scrolling through UI menus mid-firefight when you want to unleash a specific quickhack, by assigning a unique keyboard hotkey to each of them, which can be tapped once to select the hack and twice to activate it.
Need to rapidly reboot the optics of a robot or drone that’s just spotted you sneaking up on it? Now a couple of button presses should let you do so in time to avoid harm. Had to flee into a new area quicker than you’d have liked and want to do a quick ping in order to get an idea of what kind of enemy presence you’re up against? The same applies.
If that sounds like something that’ll give you the edge in your next clash with Arasaka or Kang Tao, you’ll first need to grab jackhumbert’s ‘Input Loader’, WopsS’ ‘RED4ext’ and jac3km4’s ‘redscript’ to get things working.
