While Cyberpunk 2077 has endured a difficult lifespan since its 2020 release, with a barrage of bugs and glitches on various platforms originally putting players off, things are finally looking up for the Keanu Reeves friendship simulator.

Following the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a lot of people have been tempted into giving the game another chance, leading to some massive player numbers that have only increased since the announcement that the game will be getting a sequel.

While some of these returning players are solely interested in getting rich or going hunting for graffiti, some new mods have ensured that they’ll always be able to find a furry friend when they return home.

V's best friend

The most recent of the mods in question is called ‘Apartment Cats - Motel (Jack)’ and is the work of prolific modder Deceptious, whose previous work has made the game’s vanilla cat pettable and added more depth to its romanceable characters.

This time, they’ve added a fresh feline companion, called Jack, to the purchasable motel apartment added to the game via a free update earlier this year.

Seemingly based on the real-life cat of modder xBaebsae, Jack is able to be petted in a few different places around the apartment, much in the same way that Nibbles is in Deceptious’ Pet The Cat mod.

However, if you find the motel hangout to be a little too cheap or cramped for your character’s tastes, don’t fret, as Deceptious has also added cats to a couple of the other living spaces included in the update.

For example, if you prefer the swanky condo up for sale in The Glen, you can pick up ‘Apartment Cats - The Glen (Nali)’, which will add a hairless feline friend named Nali to it.

On the other hand, if your version of V is a big-time corporate hotshot, ‘Apartment Cats - Corpo Plaza (Leia)’ will add a rather striking holographic kitty to their Corpo Plaza suite, which will even periodically change colours.

If any of those sound worthy of adoption, you’ll first need to make sure you’ve grabbed psiberx’s ‘TweakXL’ and ‘ArchiveXL’, in addition to WopsS’ ‘RED4ext’.
