Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.4 Patch: Everything We Know So Far

This article contains information about the 'release-date' of either a movie, game or product. Unless stated explicitly, release dates are speculative & subject to change. See something wrong? Contact us here

Reminder: Cyberpunk 2077 is skipping the 1.4 Patch and jumping straight to the 1.5 Update. We could be getting more info about that update with a CD Prokect Red livestream taking place on February 15.

Cyberpunk 2077 did not release in a good way, and arguably the No Man's Sky redemption arc for CD Projekt Red is still some way short of its conclusion. But the game is at the very least getting to a more respectable state after several patches throughout 2021.

Next up is Patch 1.4 and it has the potential to be one of the most significant in the game's relatively short history. But if CDPR do have any hopes of 'saving' the game with an update that can do for Cyberpunk 2077 what the Foundations update did for No Man's Sky, then it could be the first major post-launch addition to the game.

Here's everything we know so far and everything you should know about Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.4.

CDPR Skipping Cyberpunk 1.4?

In an interview with Rzeczpospolita, Kiciński referred to Cyberpunk 2077's next major update as the 1.5 update and said the dev team plans on releasing it in early 2022 alongside the game's next-gen update. Kiciński didn't offer specifics about what the update will include, but called it a major patch. The lack of mention about Cyberpunk 1.4, and its conspicuous absence from the latest roadmap, makes us think CDPR is skipping 1.4 and rolling into whatever Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 is going to be. We've outlined what we think that update will include in our Cyberpunk 1.5 hub and will be keeping up with it as we enter the anticipated release frame of 2022's first quarter.

CD Projekt Red president Adam Kiciński recently sat down for an interview with Polish outlet Rzeczpospolita. During this, Kiciński confirmed his belief that Cyberpunk 2077 will be considered a “very good game” in the long-term. Read more about that here.

We might as well add this news in here, since it's not like there's anything going on with the games 1.4 Update. Some people on Reddit had suspected that Cyberpunk 2077 could be heading to Xbox Game Pass after the game was spotted in a recent Game Pass trailer. However, a CD Projekt Red rep has clarified with VGC by stating that there are "no Game Pass plans for Cyberpunk 2077."

29 October 2021 -

Video Games Chronicle noticed CD Projekt RED updated the Cyberpunk 2077 roadmap and pushed all further updates to the first quarter of 2022 and beyond. That includes Cyberpunk 2077 patch 1.4 and the next-gen updates, along with other free DLC.

As we await news on Update 1.4 releasing, new Cyberpunk 2077 mods have just been released online, adding unofficial NVIDIA DLSS 2.3.2 support and three new apartments for V. You can check that out here.

20 October 2021 -

CD Projekt RED has announced that both next-gen updates for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 have been delayed until 2022 on the advice of those leading development. For now, CDPR expects Cyberpunk 2077's next-gen version to release in the first quarter of 2022 (January through March) and The Witcher 3's next-gen version to launch in the second quarter.

What effect, if any, this might have on Cyberpunk 2077 1.4 is unclear just yet. Will we even have a 1.4 update before the year ends? That's not clear, likewise if next-gen updates for Cyberpunk have been pushed, where does this leave the free DLC we've also heard about? Fingers crossed CD Projekt RED have more info to share soon.

17 October 2021 -

As highlighted by Paul Tassi of Forbes, CDPR is hiring for 60 positions for 'Future Cyberpunk 2077 content'. Most of these are animation roles, but the hope is that the developer is serious about adding substantial post-launch DLC and support, in the same way The Witcher 3 added two massive DLCs. Even if we're still waiting on Patch 1.4 a month after the games last patch.

11 October 2021 -

A reminder that we previously suggested we could see the next Cyberpunk 2077 update, at the earliest, in mid-October. So keep your eyes peeled this week for news from CD Projekt Red.

5 October 2021 -

This is a side note really, but it's clear Cyberpunk 2077 is still a bit of a work in progress, but it's far better than when it launched late last year. So if you know someone who might enjoy it, now might be a decent time to pick it up, especially before next-gen updates are released.

Currently, the game is just £26.79 on PSN, down from £39.99. That's a rough saving of 33%. You'll need to be quick though as this offer ends on 13 October 2021, at 23:59 BST.

28 September 2021 -

Pawel Sasko, the lead quest designer for Cyberpunk 2077 has asked fans on Twitter to share their feedback on the game's numerous questlines. In short, they want to know what quests you enjoyed and which you didn't.

This might be a rare chance to share your (constructive) opinions with the dev team if you have any thoughts.

21 September 2021 -

The long wait for CD Projekt RED to roll out Cyberpunk 2077's 1.4 Patch continues to rumble on. By our own estimates, we might yet have another month to go before the launch, if they were to release mid-October. For the time being though, the more recent 1.31 Hotfix appears to have had a mixed response. On the one hand, Forbes Writer Paul Tassi has lauded the latest update, suggesting Cyberpunk 2077 "looks fantastic" after Patch 1.31. Well, at least on PC. On the other hand, as per Gamerant, the game appears to still be having 'major issues' on older consoles. We suspect there's still a long way to go for the game and it's next significant game update.

14 September 2021 -

Once again, CD Projekt RED has released another small update for Cyberpunk 2077, albeit not the much expected 1.4 Patch.

The latest update for the game is Patch 1.31 and features a myriad of gameplay improvements, fixes and tweaks. Follow the link above for the full patch notes.

6 September 2021 -

It's not quite Cyberpunk 2077 1.4 Patch, but there is a new update for the game on PC today.

The latest hotfix for Cyberpunk 2077 on PC removes the use of AVX instruction set from the game executable. This will hopefully prevent crashes that occurred on older processors not supporting AVX.

What's next for Cyberpunk 2077 with Patch 1.4?

Whilst Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.3 might have added a few bits of minor DLC additions - such as new clothes, a new car and an alternative appearance for Johnny Silverhand - it was broadly speaking more about released another batch of all-important bug fixes and improvements to the game.

However, what is significant is that during the CDPR REDstream it was mentioned or hinted at multiple times that Patch 1.3 has more or less got the game to a state by which the developers can start looking to build on the game, rather than simply fixing it.

Here are just two instances where it seems as though the devs on the stream appeared to suggest that they can finally start improving the game:

"This patch is still mostly stability and bug fixing but we've got the game to a state where we're comfortably putting in these quality of life changes... we're going to start working on those things more in the future. I can't talk about those yet because we've learned out lesson about talking about things before they're done." Patrick Mills, Senior Quest Designer

"Now were sort of at a point in time where we can dedicate [time] to bigger tasks." Miles Tost, Senior Level Designer

So it sounds like the game is finally reached a point where we can start expecting new content and features to start arriving with the upcoming updates and patches.Hell, we're also still holding out hope for that Cyberpunk 2077 New Game Plusmode.

Cyberpunk 1.4 Update Release Date

We're going to start by being really upfront. Right now, there's is no official release date for Cyberpunk 1.4 update.

Likewise, we feel as though we should once again say what we did before the release of Patch 1.3, namely that the game's rocky launch has more than likely thrown any 2021 roadmap plans out of order.

That's before you factor in the extra difficulties that come with developing a game in a pandemic; because make no mistake the impact of COVID is still keenly being felt on studios.

Two months passed between Patch 1.3 and patch 1.23 and likewise, there was two months between Patch 1.23 and Hotfix 1.22.

So our best guess is that we'll see the next big patch - along with the new free dlc - released in mid-October. Although we wouldn't rule out another small hotfix between now and then too.

This could set up a potential Next-Gen Patch for PS5 and Xbox Series X around mid-December.

Cyberpunk 2077 'Leaked' DLC

Following the release of the Cyberpunk 2077 1.2 patch, some fans appeared to discover the existence of nine 'free' Cyberpunk 2077 DLC expansions for the game. This was supposedly leaked via the Epic Game Store, and posted to Reddit via a user called PricklyAssassin.

As a reminder, here are the names of the alleged leaked DLC:

  • Ripperdocs Expansion
  • Body Shops Expansion
  • Fashion Forward Expansion
  • Gangs of Night City
  • Body of Chrome
  • Rides of the Dark Future
  • The Relic
  • Neck Deep
  • Night City Expansion

However, it would appear as though these were nothing more than an elaborate fake. You should probably read this Reddit post by u/romulus_is_back on the Cyberpunk subreddit debunking it to understand the whole scenario.

By comparison, another leak reported by Paul Tassi of Forbes, could have a bit more validity. The list itself is still a bit of a mystery, but intriguingly CDPR has not attempted to debunk this leak as they did with the PricklyAssassin leak.

That said, they should still be taken with a big dumptruck of salt for the time being.

1) dlc1_swp - Possible “Smart” weapon pack

2) dlc2_jposes - Likely additional poses for photo mode

3) dlc3_kab01 – Likely Kabuki Market gig

4) dlc4_quartz – Possible new car(s), the Quartz is an existing car

5) dlc5_jackets – Likely additional clothing

6) dlc6_apart – Possible apartment customization

7) dlc7_pwp - Possible “Power” weapon pack

8) dlc8_mirror – Possible additional poses for the mirror, or maybe a way to alter your appearance at last

9) dlc9_arr06 – Likely Arroyo gig

10) dlc10_monster – Not sure, maybe they’re adding a literal boss monster to the map somewhere. Or it could be like a Monster Truck you can buy.

11) dlc11_jlook – Not sure, possibly the ability to change your look. If it’s similar to “jposes” it could be something for photo mode.

12) dlc12_mfinish – Likely melee finisher animations (The Witcher 3 got these)

13) dlc13_twp - Possible “Tech” weapon pack

14)dlc14_arr12 – Likely Arroyo gig

15) dlc15_ngplus – Very clearly New Game Plus, which I hope comes with higher difficulty settings

16) dlc16_jpn06 – Likely Japantown gig

17) dlc17_bwp – Possible “Blunt” weapon pack
