Thanks to the fact a new Call of Duty title releases every year, there are a huge variety of maps available to play via various multiplayer offerings. With all eyes turning towards the launch of Modern Warfare 3, some familiar maps have already been confirmed to be in it.

Sledgehammer Games' upcoming release is set to feature several iconic battlegrounds from 2009's Modern Warfare 2, in addition to numerous movement changes that've been made in a bid to improve gameplay.

While many are looking forward to loading into Rust and Terminal once more, other players are hoping the studio adds a few maps from 2019's Modern Warfare into the map pool too.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 maps in Modern Warfare 3?

As the start of the game's beta moves into view, user DruNicholi has taken to Reddit suggesting even more Modern Warfare maps should appear in the next instalment of Activision's storied shooter series.

In addition to a handful of weaponry that's yet to feature on the rumoured gun list, the player hopes the likes of Gun Runner and Rammaza appear in future updates. One of their peers responded: "(I) wouldn't mind Gun Runner returning. It was definitely the best launch map in 2019."

Other players believe Sledgehammer Games could add classic maps if the developer adjusted seasonal updates. One argued: "(Modern Warfare 2019) should be the theme of one season. Bring back Crash and Vacant at least."

On the other hand, some are hoping Modern Warfare 3 will eventually build up a pool of new maps, instead of relying on recycled content every season. One player declared: "Why not let MW3 forge its own identity with new maps, guns and Operators? I'll never understand why people want every CoD game to have the exact same content every year."

As mentioned earlier, it's already been confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will house all of the battlegrounds that launched in 2009, so there's always a chance of Sledgehammer Games bringing a few other familiar maps back, in addition to some new content.
