Over the course of Warzone Season 4, the NZ-41 from Vanguard has dominated the Season 4 meta thanks to its incredibly low levels of recoil and impressive damage output at longer distances.

The assault rifle continues to be the most popular weapon to use on Caldera, Fortune's Keep, and Rebirth Island and in a bid to restore some balance to the battle royale, Raven Software has intervened.

To prevent it from dominating any longer, the developer has applied a significant nerf as part of the Warzone July 7 update which also includes a number of bug fixes.

NZ-41 Receives Much-Needed Nerf

This particular nerfs introduces significant increases in the NZ-41's recoil which makes it much harder to control in long-distance engagements.

Despite the change, some players are still unconvinced. ModernWarzone says the NZ-41 is still the clear favourite after the NZ-41's third nerf of the Pacific era.

Although some players are still using the NZ-41 to great effect, others are already on the hunt for the next best Warzone assault rifle to use for the rest of Season 4.

Some are taking advantage of the STG 44 while others claim the KG M40 is now the meta as Season 4 prepares to enter its second half.

With the mid-season update on the horizon, it's unlikely any potential NZ-41 replacements will hold the top spot for long if Raven Software is planning on another dose of buffs and nerfs to spice up the meta once again.

Best Warzone NZ-41 Alternative

So far, the best replacements for the NZ-41 are the STG 44 and the KG M40. However, Season 4 Reloaded could see new guns enter the meta depending on the nature of buffs and nerfs Raven Software decides to implement.
