After going live earlier than intended, the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow has returned to the Warzone weapon arsenal!
As Season 5 Reloaded begins to progress, the R1 Shadowhunter is one of the more unique weapons available to select as part of a loadout.
Its release marks yet another appearance of the classic crossbow which has frequently appeared as part of Call of Duty multiplayer since the release of the first Black Ops title.
Although it is one of the more unorthodox weapons to be used on the streets of Verdansk or Rebirth Island, it’s a sure-fire way of scoring some spectacular eliminations during a match.

R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow
The R1 Shadowhunter crossbow comes with six bolts as standard, meaning accuracy is often the key to success.
It features incredible accuracy when firing from the hip alongside quick strafing speeds when aiming down sights which enables you to outmanoeuvre any opponents that may be attempting to take you down.
If you do manage to hit the target, it’s an instant kill which makes the Shadowhunter one of the more deadly weapons in the Warzone arsenal.
At longer distances, the bullet drop is noticeable which means scoring those impressive long-range snipes with a single shot is extremely difficult.
R1 Shadowhunter Best Attachments
- Reflex Sight (Optic)
Attachments are certainly limited when it comes to equipping the crossbow.
After a bit of time testing the numerous optics available, I selected the Reflex Sight for a crisp and clear view of any targets in the surrounding area.
As always, it’s personal preference in regards to which optic to select so choose one that suits your style of play.

The MP5 is an ideal weapon that will shred any opponents that attempt to take you down from behind.
Its incredibly high damage output in close-range engagements complements the long-range capabilities of the crossbow, making it the ideal primary weapon to use alongside the R1 Shadowhunter.

Lethal
- C4
If you miss a shot with the crossbow and you're worried of an oncoming rush, throw a C4 out to quickly clean up your mess!
Tactical
Stun Grenade
Using a stun grenade is great to slow down enemies and ensure you hit them as the bullet drop can be tricky to hit every shot. Not to mention that if you miss, you have a very long reload time.
Field Upgrade
Stopping Power Rounds
The R1 Shadowhunter already drops an opponent with just a single bolt, so selecting Stopping Power Rounds is to bolster the firepower of the MP5 even further, allowing you to tackle any opponents from further away.
Perks
- EOD
- Overkill
- Amped
EOD increases your resistance to any explosives that are likely to head your way while Overkill gives you the option to run two primary weapons.
The third and final Perk we selected is Amped. This Perk increases weapon swap speed, which will allow you to switch to the MP5 in the heat of the action in order to deal with any oncoming opposition.
