Why Is The R1 Shadowhunter Not Unlocking?

Ever since the release of the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow into Black Ops Cold War, players have experienced several issues when attempting to unlock the unique addition to the weapon arsenal.

The weapon was released earlier than intended and as players worked their way through the challenge, Activision and Treyarch removed the weapon, much to the annoyance of those attempting to get their hands on it.

With Season 2 Reloaded underway, players are still experiencing problems when trying to unlock the crossbow after update 1.15 went live across all platforms.

But what is the exact reason as to why the R1 Shadowhunter isn't unlocking?

What's particularly unusual about this bug is that Cold War still allows players to complete the challenge that is required to unlock the crossbow.

Once players have scored 3 one-shot kills using a weapon with no attachments equipped in 15 different matches, the gun remains locked when it is meant to appear in the Special weapons tab as unlocked.

The exact reason why players can't get their hands on the weapon appears to stem from the most recent update that went live on April 1st.

How To Fix

As of writing (April 6th) there is currently no workaround that will allow you to unlock the R1 Shadowhunter.

Thankfully, Treyarch is aware of the issue and is working on a fix that will allow players to finally unlock the weapon!

Considering the nature of the issue, it's likely that the fix will go live as part of the weekly playlist update.
