The Game Awards may be over, but that doesn’t mean we are not getting any news about the highly anticipated Persona 6.

Reliable videogame leaker @NateTheHate2 posted on X (formerly Twitter) saying Atlus’ Persona 6 is “not in development hell.” This was in response to a concerned fan who asked about the state of the game’s development cycle, especially after its long absence from the media spotlight.

Fans have been dying to find out more about the elusive next entry to Atlus’ award-winning JRPG series. There is no definitive release window for Persona 6 yet, but there is a strong possibility we might get two Persona titles next year, as the franchise prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

This is just pure speculation, but this could be a packed 2026 for Persona fans. Persona 4 Revival, the remake of the acclaimed Persona 4 entry, is slated for a 2026 release. @NateTheHate also corroborated a previous claim about the Persona 4 Revival dev team, stating that the remake is developed by TOSE, known for massive titles like Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, World of Final Fantasy, and Bandai Namco’s Scarlet Nexus. What this means is that P-Studio (the developers behind the mainline Persona titles) remains focused on developing Persona 6 without distractions from spin-offs and remakes.

If Persona 6’s development has been smooth sailing since, we could see a potential late-2026 launch for one of the biggest JRPG franchises ever made.

The Game Awards aired on December 11, showcasing a selection of upcoming titles to look forward to next year, including a new Mega Man game. In our previous piece, we had our high-level copiums ready for big reveals like Half-Life 3, a new God of War game, or Kingdom Hearts 4. Sadly, none of them bore fruit. At least we finally got Leon’s big reveal in Resident Evil Requiem.

We were expecting to see Atlus drop a teaser for Persona 6, similar to how they announced the Persona 6 ‘chair’ teaser 11 years ago.

Persona 6 is a game rooted in mystery. There’s barely anything we can glean from its story and characters, but rumors of a dual protagonist setting and a larger explorable world have circulated online. The only thing we know is that most of the Atlus’ legacy developers, including game director Katsura Hashino, composer Shoji Meguro, and art director Shigenori Soejima, are no longer working on Persona 6. Instead, they focus their sights on Atlus’ sister studio, Studio Zero. Since then, they have been responsible for bringing Metaphor: ReFantazio, one of the best JRPG games ever made, even rivaling the modern Persona series.

Whether Persona 6 ultimately launches next year or later, fans can at least take comfort in knowing that the game is not facing major development issues.
