Capcom’s highly anticipated fourth free update for Monster Hunter Wilds arrives this December 16, bringing in a plethora of new content, including the game’s first Elder Dragon: Gogmazios.

There’s not much to glean from the announcement that we don’t know of, but what’s interesting is how this update is much sooner than we initially thought. For context, most of Wilds’ Title Updates arrive at the tail end of each quarter. Title Update 3 came out on September 28.

This just means Capcom is already gearing up for the holiday season, releasing the free update 9 days before Christmas.

Gogmazios will be Wilds’ first Elder Dragon. That means everyone should be extra prepared when dealing with this world-ending threat. It might even be as powerful as Omega Planetes.

Known also as the Giant Halberd Dragon, this Elder Dragon will secure itself in an area within the Oilwell Basin (obviously) and will pose a difficult challenge for even the strongest Hunters.

This will be the game’s potential ‘raid-like’ event, similar to Safi’Jiva in Monster Hunter World. Players will have to work together to avoid his laser breath attacks and tar-covered body.

Title Update 4’s New Endgame

As mentioned months ago, the Free Title Update 4 update will introduce a brand new endgame mechanic in Monster Hunter Wilds. There’s barely any information about this system at all, but it’s safe to say that it will be the same as Safi’Jiva, where we had to ‘awaken’ weapon rewards after slaying Gogmazios.

Gogmazios is a tar-covered monster with a giant railgun stuck to its body. If we’re to assume that there are also other weapons protruding from its body, Hunters will have to slay Gog to get these items and peel its thick layer of tar, unlocking new weapons.

This will result in randomly generated weapons with their own set of stats and elements, something that could even rival the game’s lukewarm Artian Weapon crafting.

Weapon Balance and Seasonal Events

Like with any other Title Update, December 16’s Title Update 4 will also feature a new Festival of Accord, which would likely be the winter event.

Title Update 4 will also include one of the game’s most anticipated performance updates, which has plagued Monster Hunter Wilds since its launch. Capcom has been hard at work optimizing the game for PC players, and it looks like they are ready to bring in the good news when the Title Update arrives.

Additional content, including weapon balance changes and quality-of-life improvements, will also roll out when the December update goes live.

The Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 4 news was announced during the recent PlayStation State of Play Event, which aired on November 11, 2025. The broadcast features a handful of Japanese-centric games, including an update on Marvel Tokon’s next beta period and details about the Elden Ring: Nightreign DLC.
