Uh oh, it looks like Monster Hunter Wilds players are getting a taste of their own medicine after repeatedly losing the Omega Planetes hunt in Title Update 3. Capcom took the “Easy game” criticism to heart and gave us one of the hardest endgame contents in Monster Hunter history.
Now players are calling for a nerf on Omega Planetes.

Like a shifting tide, this new wave of players is crying foul after they complained that Monster Hunter Wilds needed more challenge to its monster hunts. Now that it’s finally here, they couldn’t handle the sheer difficulty of Omega Planetes’ challenge.
Similar to Monster Hunter World’s Alatreon and Safi’Jiva, Omega Planetes is considered a ‘Raid Boss,’ meaning it is almost impossible to hunt without a competent team. Doing it alone would risk multiple knockdowns and carts due to Omega’s insane arsenal of missiles and lasers. However, the regular Omega isn’t the problem here, as it can be defeated with a decent team of hunters. The problem is the Savage version of it.
The Savage Omega Planetes is just another name for a Tempered version of it. Tempered versions of monsters have increased health, speed, and damage. This is where the true challenge lies in Title Update 3. Beating Savage Omega Planetes rewards you with materials to craft the Omega Attire, which is arguably one of the coolest armors in the game. Unfortunately, you have to beat Omega first to get it.

Comments all over the Monster Hunter Wilds official X page have been flooded by players complaining that Omega Planetes is “unfair” and “too hard,” with most of them telling Capcom to nerf it. Other players, however, were also enjoying the level of fresh challenge it offers, akin to what Iceborne’s final update did by adding Fatalis.
Some Monster Hunter content creators like Rurikhan brushed off the complaints from players, saying “Don’t Nerf Omega” on his latest Tweet.

It is not only the X users who are complaining about Omega’s difficulty spike. Players across all Monster Hunter communities, including its official subreddit, came to vent out their frustrations after being carted multiple times.
This Final Fantasy XIV crossover event has been an interesting change of pace from the game’s traditional hunts. If you ask any Final Fantasy XIV player or someone pretty well-versed in FF history, they’d say that it would make sense for Omega to be this hard, as the boss has always been notorious in all FF entries, often being branded as a “Secret Super Boss.”

And now that same creature has invaded Monster Hunter Wilds, players are coming to grips with the reality that the game is progressively harder, just as they wished it to be. Even more so, Gogmazios, which is slated to come out sometime this December, might be an even dangerous threat.
If this is already the impact of its playerbase in the face of a difficult monster, who knows what discourse and complaints would arrive when its inevitable Master Rank expansion arrives next year. My guess? The cycle is going to keep repeating itself: Players complain, Capcom fixes it, then they complain again. It’s a never-ending event in Monster Hunter history, and it looks like Wilds has continued with that tradition.
