Capcom postpones its Monster Hunter showcase due to the massive 7.5 earthquake that struck Japan on Monday, December 8, at 11.15 p.m.

What was supposed to be a festive moment for Monster Hunter fans was unfortunately rescheduled to an unknown date. Capcom’s Monster Hunter social media channels made the official announcement 3 hours after the quake hit the country. Capcom Europe community manager Jonno Stanton assured the community that they will share the new broadcast date as soon as everything is okay.

The Monster Hunter showcase was supposed to unveil new details about Monster Hunter Wilds’ highly anticipated Title Update 4, as well as updates on the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds Stories 3: Twisted Reflection.

Fans can expect Capcom to finally show what the Elder Dragon Gogmazios looks like in Wilds’ December 16 update. Additionally, we can also see what the dev team was actively working on with the raid mechanics and why it is essential to bring weapons with Dragon and Fire elements.

Others also hope to see the Monster Hunter Wilds performance fix in the showcase, especially since Capcom is confident that the game’s overall optimization woes will get fixed in Title Update 4.

Alongside Monster Hunter Wilds, the showcase will also dedicate 10 minutes to the third entry in Capcom’s beloved Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, which is set to release on March 13 next year. We will likely see what the new turn-based gameplay looks like, especially with its new gimmicks and twists to the RPG genre.

Japan is still reeling from the effects of the 7.5 earthquake that hit the eastern coast of the Aomori Prefecture, injuring at least 20 people. A tsunami warning was immediately announced for the Iwate Prefecture and parts of Hokkaido and Aomori.

The country is still bracing for what’s to come, as the Japan Meteorological Agency has issued an alert for a potential megaquake.

Capcom’s multiple branches are likely recovering as well, including its employees. In the meantime, the Monster Hunter showcase can wait; what’s more important is the safety and security of all Japanese residents.
