Monster Hunter Wilds’ Title Update 3 is giving players a hard time. Omega Planetes has officially become the game's most challenging hunt ever. Thankfully, this Final Fantasy XIV collaboration event doesn’t come with just this monster alone. New items like the Seikret Chocobo outfit and the Pictomancer skill are useful additions to our hunter’s arsenal. Among these new additions, however, is the Dark Knight skill that allows players to perform the signature moves of this iconic Final Fantasy job.
But getting this one isn’t easy. So here's a handy dandy guide on how to unlock the Soul of the Dark Knight in Monster Hunter Wilds:
Defeat Omega Planetes
The first step you should be doing is to defeat Omega Planetes. It doesn’t matter if it’s the Standard or the Savage version as you only need the materials to craft the Alpha Bale Armor. The Shadowbringer Greatsword, which is also part of the Title Update 3 is optional in unlocking the Soul of the Dark Knight.
Defeating Omega Planetes takes a lot of hard work, and you will need a formidable team with you to defeat it. Alternatively, you can just invite Support Hunters (AI players) to help you since they don’t get carted, leaving all the responsibilities to you. They’re also good at stealing Omega Planetes’ enmity, which is perfect for you to go ham when it’s busy.
Craft the Alpha Bale Armor
To unlock the Soul of the Dark Knight class, you need to craft the entire Alpha Bale Set to get the Dark Knight skills as part of its armor set bonus. However, if you’re lacking in materials, you can buy any two pieces first to get the “Dark Arts” ability. This ability increases the elemental attack of your weapon and boosts any Greatsword’s Level 3 charged slashes.
Players who can afford four-pieces of Alpha Bale Armor can also unlock the set bonus called “The Blackest Night” which consumes your health to create a barrier. This is a great skill if you’re caught in a crossfire between Omega Planetes’ projectiles or any other monster out to get you.
Keep in mind that Soul of the Dark Knight the set bonus can only be activated when you equip all armor pieces of the Alpha Bale Armor. Otherwise, you only get access to either “Dark Arts” or “The Blackest Night” if it’s incomplete. This is similar to Akuma’s armor in the Street Fighter 6 collaboration event, but players can equip this as Layered Armor for some extra fashion sense.
