Monster Hunter Wilds’ Title Update 3 is here and it’s bringing the hardest hunt in the game: Omega Planetes. This special crossover with Square Enix’s hit MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV brings the familiar construct into the Monster Hunter universe, and it’s proving to be a very difficult challenge for hunters.
As part of the Final Fantasy XIV collaboration event, players are also given a special skill called Pictomancy. It’s basically a magic that lets you conjure anything by drawing a picture of it. They are essentially the DPS mages of Final Fantasy XIV, and they’re extra useful in raids, especially against Omega.
Here’s how to unlock and equip the Pictomancy spell in Monster Hunter Wilds:
How To Unlock The Pictomancy Skill?

To unlock the Pictomancy spell, you must first talk to Rove in the Iceshard Cliffs. This is the beginning of the Final Fantasy XIV collaboration event that leads to you slaying Omega Planetes. But before any of that, talking to Rove will have you slaying a Nerscylla Clone first. This isn’t the regular Nerscylla we’re used to, rather, it’s a powered-up version with deadly lasers as well as its signature poison and sleep status effects.
Once you beat the Nerscylla Clone, you can talk to familiar NPCs from FFXIV, the Alpha and the Omega. They will provide you with a massive lore dump about why Omega Planetes came into our world. After that, they will give you the item called “Soul of the Pictomancer.”

How To Equip The Pictomancy Skill?

Once you’ve received the “Soul of the Pictomancer” item from Alpha and Omega, you can now use it during combat encounters similar to how we used it with Akuma’s moveset in the Street Fighter 6 and Monster Hunter Wilds collaboration event.
To equip Pictomancy, simply head into your Camp or use a nearby chest to access your Item Box. From there, you need to put the “Soul of the Pictomancer” item into your item loadout. Once it’s added, you can see there’s a new additional icon called “Pom Motif” added into your loadout.

To use the Pictomancy spells, just press it within your Item Wheel and it’ll perform a powerful Pictomancy art that can deal significant damage to enemies. Players can combine the drawn motifs to unleash a deadly move called “Mog of Ages.” You can opt to add the Pictomancy spell into your Radial Menu, or simply leave it to your Item Wheel depending on your preference.
The Pictomancy spell has a 30 second cooldown, so that means you won’t be able to spam it all the time.
