Xbox Series X Update Helps Speed Up Downloads

Microsoft is testing a new feature for its Xbox Insiders that will allow faster downloads while games are in a Quick Resume state.

As we mentioned in our review, Quick Resume allows players to suspend games in their current states for "alt-tab" style switching between titles.

This will essentially supercharge downloads, allowing the console to focus all of its resources on pulling in a game or app from the servers while keeping the game ready for resuming at a moment's notice.

Xbox Series X Update Helps Speed Up Downloads

As revealed by Xbox engineering lead Eden Marie, "Suspend in the queue will let you download at full speed while making sure your game remains resumable (or quick resume-able on Series X|S)".

Simply select "Suspend My Game" in the queue window to take advantage of it.

There's also a second new insider-only feature (for now), that lets players see 'Recently Added' and 'Leaving Soon' filters in the Xbox Game Pass tab, so you can see at a glance what you need to try out, or which games you need to finish (or purchase).

On the subject of Xbox Game Pass, the service has received a lot of love this month.

Microsoft's subscription service will get over 30 games over the course of March, and kick off April with the day one launch of Outriders.

That's on top of Microsoft finally confirming that EA Play will come to PC as part of Game Pass Ultimate tomorrow.
