After Blizzard acknowledged just increasing the health values of raid mobs isn't the way to increase the difficulty of Classic raids earlier this week, they have pushed an update that included new mechanics which will be tested over the weekend by players once raids open back up on the beta realms.
These changes so far only affect Tier 1 content which is Molten Core and Onyxia's Lair, but we can expect to see Blackwing Lair, Ahn'Qiraj, and Naxxramas follow with similar changes, despite the difficulty of raids naturally ramping up the later the game goes on.
The second round of raid testing begins on the 28th of October at 2 pm PDT and will last for the weekend for players to experiment on and provide feedback to Blizzard.

First Look At The New Spells And Mechanics Coming To Season Of Mastery Raids
Thanks to Wowhead, we have new spell names and updates for some new abilities which players can expect to experience over the weekend.
- Call Meteor
- Dark Mending
- Despawn Spiderlings
- Dispel Magic
- Fireball Volley
- Living Fallout
- Magma Splash
- Summon Core Hound
- Summon Onyxian Warder
- Teleport Spawn VFX
Many of these new spells hint at a lot of new raid AoE damage, and new mechanics which will spawn additional enemies during an encounter.
Players will need to wait to see what bosses these appear on and how tightly these new mechanics are tuned before we see the difficulty of these new changes as players may just choose to ignore them and burst the boss down.
A good mixture of new mechanics and increased health will make for more interesting raids, but too many changes will affect mana classes likely resulting in warrior stacking as we saw in the previous Classic, but the removal of world buffs will also play a role in the new difficulty levels in the Season of Mastery.
