Splitgate's Getting A Native PS5 And Xbox Series X|S Version


Splitgate's been a big success for 1047 Games. Offering a competitive sci-fi first-person shooter which mixes Halo and Portal, an open cross-play beta is still underway, proving so popular there's been server issues.

While Splitgate's full launch got delayed to increase server capacity, 1047 Games has announced they'll release a native PS5 and Xbox Series X|S edition. Presently, it's only available on current-gen consoles through backwards compatibility, available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Splitgate's Getting A Native PS5 And Xbox Series X|S Version

Speaking during a recent Q&A session on Twitch, 1047 Games' CEO Ian Proulx confirmed "we are gonna do it". However, they're not ready to announce what those editions will bring, only telling us "there are some obvious things that pretty much every game is doing that we will explore doing".

As for "obvious things", that's certainly up for speculation, though we can guess that might include 4K resolutions, 120 FPS support or haptic feedback on PS5's DualSense controller. That won't become available until they've resolved Splitgate's server issues though, and we'll keep you updated as we learn more.
