Lycanthrope Sims have been a recurring feature since the original game, and have now returned in Sims 4: Werewolves. Getting to become a wolf is something that might be a mystery to some, so here's our guide on how to become a Werewolf in Sims 4.

To start you'll need the base game and the Werewolf pack, obviously, to access the new world of Moonwood Mill and its new cast of characters, as they will be the ones to help you in becoming a werewolf. From there, you can join one of the two factions, Moonwood Collective, or the Wildfangs. Then you're off to unlock new skills and powers, and howl at the moon to your hearts' content.

Like with Spellcasters, there are a few different ways of becoming a Werewolf in Sims. The easiest way is to make one in Create-A-Sim. This removes the challenge element, but can mean they look the way you want as you can paint the fur and dress them (or undress them) how you'd like.

You can pass on Werewolf genes to children; as long as at least one parent is a Werewolf, there is a chance for their offspring to be a lycanthrope too.

The most fun way of getting yourself some wolfy Sims, though, is by being turned into one. To access this option, your Sim will need to befriend a Werewolf. Eventually, they can ask the Werewolf sim to turn them. They will then get bitten and the turn will start.

Sims can also, accidentally, fall under the Werewolf curse; a rampaging werewolf unable to control itself can bite an unsuspecting Sim and give them the disease Werebies. This can be cured, but it can also turn a Sim if left unchecked.

Can I Stop Being A Werewolf?

The good news is, if you get bored of being a wolf, you can stop. There are a few ways to do this, but the 'proper' way is a little convoluted.

To legitimately stop your Sim being a Werewolf, you'll have to follow some steps. In terms of other activities in the Sims, this provides more of a challenge and is recommended as it is fun gameplay.

First, you'll need your Werewolf Sim to be able to read and understand Werewolf lore, by achieving the somewhat hidden Lunar Epiphany. You do this by essentially just reading more and more wolf-themed books. Eventually, the achievement will pop up.

Once you've achieved the Lunar Epiphany, you need to search for The Diary of Gregorius Lundvik. Finding it can take a while as it is a random find when Scavenging as a Werewolf form. The diary will tell you how to make a cure for Werewolf-ism.

Next up, you need to collect the ingredients and craft the cure. Named Wolf-B-Gone, the potion requires three Moonpetals - these can be found at the top of Moonwood Mill hill during a full moon - and 10 Wolfsbane. Wolfsbane can be bought and grown if you have the Vampires pack installed! If not, you can find them in tunnels around Moonwood Mill.

The Wolf-B-Gone potion is classed as a drink, and your Sim will need to make it at a bar. Then, they'll need to drink it when in their human form. After an odd reaction, your Sim will be cured of their Werewolf status!

By the way, there is an aspiration that is associated with curing the Werewolf side of a Sim, which basically entails making the potion.

Along with using a potion to rid your Sim of their Lycanthropy, you can learn to live with it by controlling the Fury. This allows Sims to turn as they please, and will act rationally instead of rampaging.

If you just want to be one and done with your werewolf alter ego, you can use a cheat to wipe your Sim immediately. Make sure testing cheats are enabled, and enter the following:

  • traits.remove_trait trait_occultwerewolf

A Sim that is inflicted with the Werebies disease can be cured before they turn, too - pop into the bar in Moonwood Mill and ask for the Werebise remedy. A very simple solution!
