Developers Volition has just announced that Saints Row's upcoming reboot has been delayed. Previously targeting a February 25th, 2022 release date, that's now been pushed back by six months, aiming for August 2022 instead.
As per the game's official website, Jim Boone, Chief Creative Officer of Volition, confirmed this delay is "to create the best Saints Row game yet." Within this statement, Boone confirmed that if they push through with the original release date, it "wouldn’t be up to the standards" the developer has set.
Saints Row's Been Delayed Until August 2022
Boone also mentioned the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on production and development of the game. Their employees were mandated to have a work-from-home setup for long, though he claims the "size and scope" of the new Saints Row game held them back.
Volition reassured fans there won't be any changes to the story, characters or anything they've "lovingly imagined over the last few years and already shared" with the fans. Saints Row will launch for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Make sure to follow us for more gaming news and updates as it happens.
