Pokémon Legends Arceus Adds New Pokémon And Hisuian Forms

Pokémon Legends Arceus is the brand new, open-world Pokémon game arriving early in 2022. Fans have been waiting for months for news of the innovative title, relying on speculation and rumour to get them through until a new trailer drops.

That all changed today, as the August 18 Pokémon Presents shed nearly ten minutes' worth of light onto the new Switch game. The trailer showed crafting, an early iteration of Team Galaxy, and the stunning Hisui region, but there was something else that caught trainers' eyes.

We're keeping our list of all the confirmed Pokémon in Pokémon Legends Arceus up-to-date, but here's a deeper dive into the four new additions:

Pokémon Legends Arceus Adds New Pokémon And Hisuian Forms

As well as giving us a glimpse at the countless returning Pokémon roaming the world of Hisui, The Pokémon Company gave us a glimpse of four new Pokémon that will be added to the game. Two are brand new evolutions, and two are Hisuian forms.

Basculegion is an evolution of Basculin, and has an interesting evolution mechanic. It apparently feeds on the dead Basculin in its river or stream to grow in power - kind of like Wishiwashi. It is a Water and Ghost-type like Jellicent, and it's a big boy, so we expect it to be bulky and slow. Did somebody say Trick Room?

Wyrdeer evolves from Stantler, and has adapted to the colder climes of the Hisui region with a thick beard. It's a Normal and Psychic-type, joining only Girafarig and Indeedee as the few Pokémon with this typing.

Hisuian Braviary joins the ranks as the first Hisuian form announced for Pokémon Legends Arceus. The Psychic and Flying-type Pokémon appears in Hisui during the winter. It's much larger than regular Braviary, and can carry trainers in-game - either on its back or dangling from a trapeze.

Hisuian Growlithe also joins the ranks, and we assume it will be joined by a Hisuian Arcanine form. Its Fire and Rock-typing leaves it incredibly weak to Water-type Pokémon, but its adorable rocky horn more than makes up for this.
