Overwatch fans still have plenty of time to wait until the release of Overwatch 2, but that's ok, since there are always more events going on in the existing game to keep them occupied.
The next event is the annual Overwatch Summer Games but if you're not so keen on sunlight and prefer the spooky thrill of Halloween events, we get it.
As such, you might be wondering how long you have to wait before Halloween Terror returns to Overwatch.
As one of the game's longest-running events and often one of the more celebrated, it's clear that fans really cherish the spooktacular event blizzard holds year after year more than most.
Plus, the thrill of Junkenstein's Revenge and the onslaught of Zomnics is pretty fantastic too.
So if you're craving more spine-tingling skins and Halloween high-jinks, read on (if you dare!). We'll explain everything you need to know about Overwatch Halloween Terror 2021.
When Does Overwatch Halloween Event 2021 start?
Thankfully, Blizzard's seasonal events normally operate like clockwork. There's a fairly consistent pattern to when they begin and end. So we simply need to look at past years to work out when the spooktacular event will kick off in 2021.
In the past, Overwatch's Halloween Terror event has started on the following dates:
- 2016 - October 11 until October 31
- 2017 - October 10 until November 2
- 2018 - October 9 until November 1
- 2019 - October 15 until November 4
- 2020 - October 13 until November 3
As you can see, Blizzard likes to stick to a pretty rigid release timeframe for the event, with the Halloween Terror release date occurring in the second week of October. The only outlier is 2019, but that delay was likely linked to the game's release on Nintendo Switch.
To make things even easier, we know that Overwatch events typically launch on Tuesdays or Thursdays, which is when Blizzard usually release their title updates.
With this in mind, it seems a good bet that Overwatch Halloween Terror 2021 event will begin on either Thursday, October 7, 2021 or Tuesday, October 12, 2021.
We can't foresee it starting sooner, but there's an outside chance of a later start on Thursday, October 14, 2021.
Out money is on October 12, lasting until Tuesday, November 2, 2021.
Overwatch Halloween Event Skins
Right now it's impossible to say with certainty which Overwatch characters will receive new skins for the upcoming event.
However, we can at least take a stab at working out which heroes could be in line for a new Overwatch Halloween Terror Skin based on who currently has skins for the past events.
Now, given that ALL heroes have at least 1 Halloween Terror skin, it's hard to say for certain who could get a new skin. But we should be able to narrow down who could be in line for a new Legendary Skin, as not all characters have received one so far.
To date, the following characters are without a Halloween Terror Legendary Skin:
If we had to guess, these are some of the characters who should be in line for a new legendary skin.
Likewise, we'll tentatively say that Ana and Sombra won't be in line for one, as they both currently have two. How greedy.
Hopefully, we'll find out more, later this year.
