The Outer Worlds 2 PS5 Release Seemingly Unlikely After New Statement From Private Division

It doesn't look like The Outer Worlds 2 will release on PS5 as Microsoft is now taking over the publishing of the franchise from Private Division.

In news we covered earlier this week, Microsoft will now be taking over publishing duties for the franchise.

This ultimately means that the game will likely stay exclusive to Xbox Series S/X and PC, as Microsoft isn't planning to release games from its recent acquisitions on other platforms.

For example, Starfield is reportedly set to not come to PS5.

Originally, it was thought that the two companies would continue to work together, but that seems ot have changed now. Private Division will still support and market the first game and the upcoming Murder on Eridanos DLC for Nintendo Switch.

Private Division said that they were "thrilled to see where they take it [the franchise]".

This news shouldn't be too surprising to many people but it is nice to finally have confirmation of where the series is headed in the future if more games are made.
