Pokémon Go: How to get Lucky Pokémon

You can get Lucky Pokémon by trading with other trainers. The stats of such Pokémon cannot be lower than 12 IVs. Also, the amount of Stardust you have to spend on power up is reduced by 50%. Thus, Lucky Pokémon are stronger, cheaper to upgrade, and glow golden.

How to trade with other players

To make a trade, you and your friend must be within 100 meters of each other. You can trade up to 100 Pokémon with the same player in 24 hours. However, you can only trade the same Pokémon once, and Mythical Pokémon cannot be traded at all. You have to pay Stardust for the trade, and the price varies greatly depending on the rarity of the Pokémon and whether they are registered by both players.

How to increase the chance of getting a lucky Pokémon

Foremost, the odds depend on when you caught the Pokémon:

  • 5% to become Lucky if you have a Pokémon for less than a year.
  • 10% to become Lucky if you have had the Pokémon for one year.
  • 15% to become Lucky if you have had the Pokémon for two years.
  • 20% to become Lucky if you have had a Pokémon for three years.

In addition, the average age of each trainer's Pokémon is determined when calculating the odds, that is, if one Pokémon is in the collection for a year and the second is for three years, it will be considered as two years for both. Thus, the chance for it to become Lucky will be 15%.

Although the chances are not too bad, they are still not high, so fortunately there are as many as two ways to get Lucky Pokémon with a 100% chance. For the first one, you have to become Lucky Friends with another trainer. To do this, you must first become Best Friends and continue to do various things that increase the level of friendship, such as giving Gifts. Unfortunately, only one action per day can make you Lucky Friends, and there is a 2% chance of this, but during events, this chance can be increased.

The second method is suitable for old players because Pokémon are guaranteed to be Lucky when traded if they were caught in 2016-2018. This way, 25 Pokémon can be traded.
