The Pokemon Company has opened a brand-new studio for the monumental Japanese RPG franchise. Dubbed Pokemon Works, the new company’s purpose has yet to be revealed.

Discovered by Pokemon website Serebii, Pokemon Works has only just been established by The Pokemon Company. Journalist Joe Merrick revealed that the company has only just been registered in Japan.

At the time of writing, Pokemon Works is just a week old, and its role is unknown. However, it is known that the company shares a building with ILCA, the studio behind the controversial Sinnoh remakes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

While ILCA isn’t owned by The Pokemon Company, the studio does have a long history of partnering together. Alongside the Sinnoh remakes, the studio is also behind the development of Pokemon Home.

The studio is also reportedly working with Game Freak on new Pokemon Black and White remakes in the same vein as Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. However, these alleged remakes have not been officially announced at the time of writing.

With the huge number of projects coming out of the Pokemon franchise, it’s no surprise that a new company has been opened to help manage the load.

While we can’t say what Pokemon Works is, we can take some guesses. With the sheer amount of Pokemon cross-media, including theme park exhibits, we would guess that the new company will help to manage media projects such as the brand's anime, manga and in-person events.

While its competitor Palworld has become incredibly popular, the Pokemon franchise isn’t calming down. A new game dubbed Pokemon Legends: Z-A releases next year on Nintendo Switch, bringing players back to Kalos albeit only a single city. The new game will feature the return of mega evolutions, a long-requested feature from fans.

Other titles are also in development, including a new Pokemon TCG game for mobile. While many fans complain constantly about the series, its popularity is still undeniable.
