Modern Warfare 3 fans blast disappointing weapon conversion kits

Modern Warfare 3 fans aren't happy with the introduction of weapon conversion kits.

Branded as aftermarket parts in Modern Warfare 3, the parts transform existing guns and weapons with a fresh set of characteristics in a bid to create even more weapon variety available before the start of Season 1.

In theory, the idea is an interesting one but after a few weeks of the cycle, players have already branded them a 'big letdown,' suggesting the conversion kits result in a lack of performance instead of gearing them to suit an alternative style of play capable of topping the scoreboard once the match has come to an end.

To highlight the issue with aftermarket parts, user ExtensionAd3251 took to Reddit claiming the conversion kits make guns 'significantly worse.'

The fan says: "I'm surprised by how bad these conversion kits are. Putting any of them on your gun will not only take up one attachment slot but also make the gun significantly worse." While some players aren't fans of the kits, there are plenty who are noticing major improvements in some weapons. Another adds: "The renetti conversion kit is amazing, turning it into arguably the best secondary in the game."

Instead of blaming the Modern Warfare 3 aftermarket parts, others believe another reason is impacting their performance across the various maps and game modes. One fan thinks: "SHG [Sledgehammer Games] doesn't know how to balance weapons."

Contrary to the last statement, Sledgehammer Games is analysing the Modern Warfare 3 meta closely. The November 21 patch notes contained a wealth of buffs and nerfs impacting some of the strongest weaponry in a bid to maintain a level playing field.

Considering the Modern Warfare 3 developer is often listening to player feedback, there's always a chance improvements to the performance of aftermarket parts are made so they're somewhat viable against an arsenal of weaponry that's already packed with variety and firepower. We'll have to wait and see if aftermarket parts make a resurgence once the first season begins.
