Breakdown

  • EA and Motive claim Iron Man is a top priority
  • Details on the game are still pretty slim
  • Motive are also focused on Battlefield

EA and Motive Studios are finally making good progress on their Iron Man game, though details on the Marvel title are still unknown. A recent blog post has indicated that plenty of work has been done, supposedly hitting new milestones and becoming an “important priority” to EA.

The blog post from EA mostly talked about Motive’s involvement with their Battlefield series, though work on the Marvel IP was mentioned. Unfortunately, we still don’t have any new screenshots or trailers, but it looks like the devs have made good progress with Tony Stark’s next adventure.

“In parallel, development continues to move forward on our Iron Man project, led by Olivier Proulx (Executive Producer) and Ian Frazier (Creative Director),” wrote the post. “The team made excellent progress this year, hitting a major internal milestone and laying a robust foundation for the journey ahead. Iron Man is an important priority for Motive, and I’m very proud of the work we’ve accomplished so far.”

Minor details on the upcoming Iron Man game have been shared over the years, with Motive using the same “community council” used to make Dead Space. Basically, fans will be shown how the game’s development is going and can give their opinions on how certain functions will work.

Ryan North of Fantastic Four game will be writing the game’s story, so it should be entertaining, to say the least. The game will also have RPG elements like every other AAA game, so fans should expect to power up their armor, strength, defense, and everything in between. It’s not going to be Baldur’s Gate 3 or anything like that, but the game should still be a fun one for everyone.

The closest we got to an actual Iron Man game was Crystal Dynamics’ failed Avengers game, which gave the Armored Avenger some actual fun gameplay mechanics. While the gameplay was mostly 3D beat-em-up action, it did give each Avengers a unique control scheme and we hope they keep them in mind for future Marvel games.

No release date for EA and Motive’s Iron Man game has been released, but expect it to come out on modern systems.
