EA and Motive’s Iron Man game has a lot of hype behind it, though we still haven’t seen any of the gameplay. At the least, it looks like the Marvel title will have some solid writing, as current Fantastic Four writer Ryan North is working on the game.

North announced the news on Twitter, showing plenty of excitement since he’s a pretty big Iron Man fan. In regards to the gameplay, North did leave a small tease, saying that we’re not prepared for how “amazing” this game is going to be.

“It's no secret that I love Iron Man and have written my heart out for Tony Stark every chance I've had. So I'm PRETTY STOKED to say I'm part of the writing team on the upcoming IRON MAN game from Motive,” North said.

Marvel fans have been enjoying North’s work in the current Fantastic Four comics, where he blends creative sci-fi elements with fun superhero action. His high concepts make him a great choice for Iron Man, where a lot of that creativity can be put into techno-jargon and maybe even some magic.

Several Marvel writers have actually worked on the company’s video games, so North isn’t the only outlier here. Christos Gage, who wrote Avengers Academy and Superior Spider-Man, worked on Marvel’s Spider-Man. Matt Fraction, who had a pretty lengthy run with Thor, wrote the poorly received MCU Thor game.

Writing for story-centric games, let alone open-world superhero titles, can be tricky, so we hope North can pull it off. At the least, even if the story isn’t up to snuff, the gameplay of Iron Man can carry the whole experience. Hopefully, we get a look at gameplay soon.

At the time of writing, EA and Motive’s Iron Man game is still in very early production. Similar to their work in the Dead Space remake, fans will be able to give feedback on how the game is made.
