Harry Potter fans are fairly confident that a Hogwarts Legacy 2 is going to be announced in the next few years, especially after the first game’s success. While it’s hard to have faith in Warner Bros. these days, a job ad from developer Avalanche Software hints at the sequel running on Unreal Engine 5.

The job ad from Avalanche, spotted by Tech4Gamers, reveals that these devs are looking for a Senior Character Artist who has experience with Unreal 4 and Unreal 5. Although Avalanche could be working on something else, the listing hilariously mentions the devs working on the first game.

“We’ve been in the video game business since 1995, creating interactive experiences for fans of the world’s largest franchises,” the ad reads. “Join the team behind the blockbuster open world, action RPG Hogwarts Legacy as we create what’s next!”

Considering how the first game pushed last-gen hardware, it will be interesting to see how much better Hogwarts Legacy 2 looks. The fact that this open-world game was able to perform well on PS4 and Xbox One, let alone the Nintendo Switch, a sequel with no last-gen systems holding it down sounds great. Say what you will about the first game, but it did have some quality visuals and we can see them being improved in the sequel.

Fans may want to temper their expectations for a similar triple-A sequel, as Warner Bros. remains committed to making live-service games. This might sound like an old statement but it was made after Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League didn’t sell well. Warner Bros. Discovery is a truly baffling company to follow these days, but fans of DC and Looney Toons are more than aware of that.

A live-service version of Hogwarts Legacy 2 doesn’t sound ideal, but that could be the direction Warner Bros. might want for it. The company is already preparing to release the free-to-play Quidditch Champions soon, showing how ready they are to get those microtransactions.
