Epic Games’ recent changes to Fortnite V-Bucks has angered the entire community of battle royale gamers. Introduced after ruining the game’s locker system, this new update has made progression much harder for battle pass users.

The new Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 update changed the battle pass system to award players with V-Bucks much later than before. Since launch, players could earn 1,500 V-Bucks by reaching level 100 in the battle pass. Now, you’ll have to reach level 141.

Furthermore, this change came alongside an infuriating modification to the game’s challenge system, the mechanic that earns XP to increase your battle pass. Previously, you would simply jump into a match and earn your challenges. Now, you’ll have to specifically activate them.

This combination of changes has completely slowed down progression in Fortnite, making the game less rewarding to play than before. As expected, Fortnite fans have taken to Reddit to complain about the infuriating changes, and they’re completely right.

“It sucks they’ve started putting V-Bucks in the extra rewards,” one fan said. “It used to be you got the full V-Buck value of the pass by level 100, now you’ve got to get to 141 for the same number. They’re really making it a chore to get what we got much easier in the past.”

“This [is] one of the worst changes that they had made... It was kind of hard to make it to 100-120 for me... now I have to grind to almost 150 just for the ‘complete’ BP? They just want people to cheat in creative or what?” said another.

Of course, it’s still easy to cheat your way into easy XP on Fortnite. By using the best Fortnite XP maps, you’re able to easily gain levels on the battle pass, but those who like to play the main mode are, once again, being punished.

Epic’s change in Fortnite V-Bucks payment is due to the ongoing wave of cheaters using XP maps and AFK exploits. However, this recent change doesn’t stop easy XP modes and tricks from existing, it just punishes those who don’t use them.

Fortnite is currently available as a free-to-play game on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, PC and mobile.
