Monster Hunter Rise: How to Sheathe Your Weapon

To sheathe your weapon in Monster Hunter Rise you can press Y. Make sure you just press it once, as holding Y will use the item equipped to your quick-menu. Another way to put your weapon away is to move into a running animation. Hold R and start running, you will put your weapon away as you build up speed.

Speeding Up Weapon Sheathing

There is a way to speed up your weapon sheathing animation and that is with the quick sheathe skill. This is associated with certain armour sets, so keep an eye out for it, it can be a real time saver. Lighter weapons are faster to put away, so if you find yourself struggling with the Charge Blade for instance, try out a lighter weapon like the Dual Blades.

When to Put Your Weapon Away

There are many scenarios where putting your weapon away will be key to survival. Mostly, you’ll need to put your weapon away to run and use items. What I will say is that you should try to hold your ground, and sheathe your weapon as little as possible during a big fight. Often, dodging, using your wirebug and using step attacks will be much better when trying to avoid attacks. Sheathing your weapon takes time, leaving you open to attacks. It can be a hard habit to curb, but hold strong and be more precise with your dodges instead.
