Black Ops Cold War: 127 Player Lobbies Spotted During Beta

The release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is imminent!

The latest iteration of the Call of Duty franchise is heading back to the height of the Cold War as the new game is a direct sequel to the very first Black Ops title released in 2010.

The alpha and beta weekends prior to the full release of the game on November 13th, gave players their first chance to experience a new multiplayer experience developed by Treyarch.

During the beta weekend, some eagle-eyed players spotted a particular menu feature that may have revealed a brand-new game mode.

During the second beta weekend, players got their first taste of Fireteam: Dirty Bomb.

This a brand-new game mode which sees ten teams of four dropping into huge maps tasked with the objective of detonating bombs located all over the map.

Fireteam: Dirty Bomb was the biggest mode on offer during the beta, with a total of 40 players competing.

While sat on the main multiplayer menu, some players spotted the maximum player limit was much higher than 40.

Notable leaker TheGamingRevolution spotted that the maximum player count was 127 as opposed to the usual numbers of 12 or 40.

A New Mode?

A total of 127 players in a traditional Call of Duty multiplayer match sounds extremely exciting for those wanting their fix of large-scale action.

Could this be a tease for an even bigger mode than Combined Arms?

Perhaps this player number is for more traditional modes taking place on the Fireteam maps? We will have to wait until the full release of the game to see if this theory comes to fruition.

Warzone

Other than knowing that Warzone will be integrated into Black Ops Cold War in a similar fashion to Modern Warfare, there has been little information surrounding how the release of the new title is going to impact the battle royale.

Current Warzone lobby sizes see a total of 150 people joining up before dropping into Verdansk.

Could the maximum number of players be dropping slightly? We will have to wait and see when Black Ops Cold War releases and when Warzone eventually transitions to the new game.
