How to Get the Cold Suit in Metroid Dread
In order to get the Cold Resistance Suit Upgrade (Gravity Suit) in Metroid Dread you will need to have progressed through Ferenia, picked up the Space Jump and Storm Missile upgrades, and looped back to the entrance. This is where you took a shuttle into Ferenia, and is indicated as purple on the map. Take the shuttle back to Ghavoran. Exit via the door on the left.
You're looking for the water-logged area shown on the screenshot above. You'll be able to use your ice missiles to reach it now. Your Space Jump will allow you to jump the gap where the red cursor is shown in the image. You're heading for the green teleportation terminal below it. Activate the teleport terminal and you will arrive in Burenia.
Go to your left and through the door. Head down into the water. You can take a path left along the map and down towards the location shown in the image below. The upgrade is marked here.
As you can see in the screenshot above, the upgrade can be accessed via the large water-filled room to its right. You will need to enter via the door above another one on the left side of this room. there is a small opening in the ceiling above it that you can move through using the Morph Ball. Remember to use your Pulse Radar to make things easier.
Gravity Suit Explained
The Gravity suit enables Samus to explore hot and cold zones scattered around the map. It also allows her to move freely in water, meaning you can use the Space Jump freely to gain height, and move at a normal running speed and Flash Dodge. It also greatly reduces incoming damage and increases the damage for Dash Melee.
How to Use the Gravity Suit
Samus will automatically use the Gravity suit when entering water, cold and hot zones. Think of it like the Varia Suit upgrade, in that it adds an extra layer of power on top of Samus when equipped.
How to Leave Burenia If You get Stuck
If you find yourself stuck in Burenia, follow the steps outlined above. You want to have come back to Burenia via the green teleportation terminal. Once you've done so, work on getting the Gravity suit. This will allow you to Space Jump to the top of the large water-filled room to the right of where you picked up the Gravity suit. You can then destroy the object at the top, sending it crashing down. This will allow you to leave the area.
