Harvestella keybinds - How to swap the confirm and back buttons

The player character standing by an arch in Harvestella.

So you've just fired up Harvestella and you're already backing out of menus with buttons you thought would send you deeper. The good news is that you don't have to put up with it, and the fix is easier than you might think. Read on to find out how to swap the confirm and cancel buttons in Harvestella and get on with your farm.

The reason for the Harvestella controls being inverted is likely down to something as simple as the traditional Japanese control scheme. Nintendo controllers have long had the A and B buttons switched, and you'll even notice the X and O buttons on a PlayStation controller follow this rule in the country, where X typically means "no" and O is the symbol used for a selection.

How to swap the confirm and cancel buttons in Harvestella

One of the first things you'll likely notice in Harvestella is that the Confirm and Back buttons are reversed. Anyone who frequently switches between an Xbox/PlayStation controller and a Nintendo Switch will know the pain of that. Thankfully, you don't have to put up with it.

Fixing this issue of A and B being reversed in Harvestella isn't done in the way you'd expect. It's actually easier. It just might take longer to notice how to do it because it's so different to how you'd usually do it.

To flip the A and B buttons in Harvestella and have Confirm and Back be A/X and B/O respectively, don't bother going into the Key Settings menu on PC. You won't be able to change the settings there unless you're playing on keyboard - in which case you're probably not having the issue of the confirm and cancel buttons being in the wrong place.

Instead, all you need to do is head into the standard Options menu. In there, you'll see a toggle to "Swap the confirm/cancel buttons on the controller." Just flick that to the "ON" position and you'll fix the issue in one fell swoop. Easy.

Can you swap the A and B buttons in Harvestella on Nintendo Switch?

For absolutely no reason whatsoever, you can't swap the A and B buttons in Harvestella on Nintendo Switch. The option isn't there, and there's no keybinds menu to force it any other way, either.
