Are you stuck in first person mode in Starfield? Well, you've come to the right place, since this handy guide is here to save the day and show you how to switch between first and third person in Starfield.

Starting off in first person can be pretty immersive, since it feels like you're right there in the action, blasting away at enemies, and for most shooters, that's the way to go. But Starfield is also an RPG, so it features a ton of awesome outfits you can wear, and that's where the third-person view really shines. You can see just how stylish and cool your character looks as you explore the game world.

How to turn on third person mode in Starfield

To switch the Starfield camera to third person on Xbox, click the View button. It's located to the left of the Xbox button and has two boxes drawn on it. To switch the perspective on a PC, you need to press the wheel location in the middle of the mouse, which is also called Mouse 3.

There are three types of cameras available in the game:

  1. First-person mode, with which you start the game.
  2. Third-person mode with a remote camera, where you see your character in its full size.
  3. Third-person mode, you see your character from the waist, just like in Dead Space.

When controlling your spaceship, you can also change the perspective between first and third person, but there are only two modes. The buttons for switching between them are the same as when controlling a character.

All modes have their advantages, so it's great that Bethesda is giving players this opportunity, as we've seen in other games from the studio. Playing in first person is more familiar and easier to engage in gunfights. At the same time, the third-person mode is more cinematic and also allows you to see if you are wearing a helmet, which is especially useful when you are landing on a planet.
