If you're looking for a way to change the time of day in Starfield, then your search ends here. The game has a fully realised 24-hour cycle, and the time of day changes as the game progresses. So in simple words, a day in Starfield lasts for 24 hours, just like in real life.

Therefore, the time of day in the game may affect some quests or events. This means that you may need to change it sometimes, as you would in other Bethesda games such as Skyrim and Fallout. So here's a detailed guide to skipping time in Starfield.

How to change the time of the day in Starfield

So there are two ways to change the time of day in-game. The first method involves resting and sleeping on the bed, accelerating the passage of time. Moreover, your character gains health and XP while sleeping.

Another way to skip time in Starfield is to sit on a chair or toilet. You will see a pop-up menu on your screen while your character is sitting, which allows you to skip the time by moving the slider.

The slider lets you set the number of hours you want to skip, just like in Bethesda’s other RPGs. This is useful for some quests that require you to wait until the next day or a certain time. However, it is worth noting you won't gain any XP or health via this method.

How to check the current in-game time in Starfield

Starfield's day and night cycles may change depending on the star system you're in. Therefore, you can check the current time on that designated planet by pressing the Tab key to open the data menu and checking the upper left corner.

The time is displayed under the planet info, right above the total exploration progress. But it's important to note that the game shows two different times: the local time for the planet or moon you are exploring, which tells you when the sun will rise or set, and the universal time for the whole universe.
